November, 2009- As the debate continues in Denmark regarding the best treatment for cancer patients, over 100 Danish cancer patients have chosen to come to Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou, China for treatment. More remarkable still is the fact that they choose to receive treatment in a country and culture so far from theirs, and that Denmark offers their citizens free health care from the government. For five days this month, oncological nurse Annie Rasmussen has been on an trip to Fuda Cancer Hospital to learn more about the therapies. The purpose of her trip was to find answers to her personal questions about our therapies, as well as the occasional skepticisms that are often found in the Danish media. She needed to see for herself whether or not she could give her professional recommendation for patients to come to Fuda. During her time her, Mrs. Rasmussen has taken part and observed several of Fuda's hallmark therapies: cryosurgery, brachytherapy, immunotherapy, and interventional therapy. She has interviewed Fuda's European and Danish patients, interviewed the hospitals, as well as shared her experiences and knowledge with Fuda's Chinese nurses. On her return to Denmark, Mrs. Rasmussen plans to share her opinion with others and believes that Fuda should be a good option for certain patients who have limited treatment options at home. For many cancers, Fuda's therapies are simply more tailored treatment options, when compared to conventional surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. (Mrs. Rasmussen speaking with Chinese reporters)
