As part of her anthropology thesis project, Dorte Rasmussen will spend the month of March at Fuda Cancer Hospital to interview the many international patients that have come to Fuda for cancer therapy. As a graduate student at Denmark's University of Copenhagen, she first learned about Fuda from the over 100 Danish patients that have traveled across the globe for their cancer care. As part of her project, Ms. Rasmussen plans to examine the lives of patients and the effect on family members, as they are immersed in a culture that is seemingly so different, during their medical care. Ms. Rasmussen has self-financed the entirely of her month at Fuda. Every morning she joins the staff of doctors when they are meeting with new patients, explaining treatment options, and sometimes comforting families. Her tasks range from small to large, occasionally coming with our staff when picking up international patients at the airport, having meals with families, or assisting them with daily tasks, and even helping with grocery shopping. Everyone is happy to have an extra guest at Fuda and we warmly welcome her. If you see her, please be sure to say hello and perhaps share your story!
